Persons who qualify as disabled, as a result
of impaired vision should note that a Refund of VAT may be claimed
on the purchase or importation of low-vision aids.
Among the types of aid/appliance covered would
be domestic aids such as braille books or radar services for the
blind. Aids used by a person with a disability in the pursuit
or exercise of a vocation or education, such as a computer, will
be considered. However the relief does not apply to goods designed
for leisure purposes (see also item on Refunds of VAT on aids
and appliances for people with disabilities in File 6/9).
